But If Not…
My friend and I were chatting the other night and, as often happens, the talk turned to dating. Rather, our lack of success in the field. We weren’t complaining so much, just being frank about things. He sent me a link to this talk, But If Not. I read through it today and really loved the main theme, especially how it elaborated on the principle of faith.
I’m far from perfect in my faith, but I do feel like I have traces of the “but if not” in me. Actually, in regards to dating. I have a dear friend who is not a member. From the very first, we clicked, but it didn’t take long for both of us to acknowledge that there are some barriers to anything happening. How nice would it be to forget about all that and just be happy and give things a go? I don’t know, and I won’t know. Because when all is said and done, I know what I have been promised. I may be a little sad and lonely for a few more months or years, but I have faith that the Lord will fulfill His promise. And if not….. well I’m still going to move forward as if it is going to happen. Sometimes it’s nice to be reminded of your convictions.
