Home Alone

I’ve decided that people aren’t meant to live alone. Last summer I lived mostly alone, with the occasional squatter staying for a few weeks before getting married. Yeah, that was lovely living with a girl AND her fiance. Ok, it really wasn’t all that bad, but…. you get the picture. This summer I am living with a roommate (hooray!) who is very fun and awesome to hang with… when we are home at the same time. I am missing her again. Stacia often goes home to St. George area for the weekends, and honestly who wouldn’t want to leave Provo for a long weekend like Memorial Day weekend? I was planning to, but the best laid plans of mice and men… suffice it so say I find myself rather boring company. (Hm, is that a clue as to why I rarely date? Nah… I’m awesome.) It’s just when you have Read more…

Walking down cliffs

I am afraid of heights. Sometimes if I’m on a higher floor and there’s not much of a barrier at the edge I’ll get a funny feeling, something between fear and fascination of falling. Mostly fear. I don’t even like the high dive. I have jumped off some cliffs before, but they were pretty tame and I have no desire to continue doing that. So, I was rather surprised when I got talked into going rappelling. At night. Down an 80 foot cliff. Did I mention I’ve never gone rappelling before? What on earth convinced me to do such a risky, scary, exciting task? A boy. A boy named Logan, to be specific. Chad, you would like him. He likes mountain biking. We left at who knows when… sometime between 10 and 11 pm. Logan has made the hike to the rappelling site several times, although mostly during the day. Read more…

Happy Mother’s Day

Teacher— the reason I’m so incredible is COMPLETELY because of my mom. She taught me everything I know.Enthusiast— my mom has always been there for me, encouraging me in everything I do.Rock— whenever I need someone to talk to, my mom is always there for me.Inspiration— one day I hope I can look in that magic mirror and say “I am my mother after all.” I love you, mom!

Kiss these tu (two) lips

We were supposed to do a tap show at the Thanksgiving Pointe Tulip Festival tonight. Unfortunately, the rain and the concrete stage proved very deterring, and we canceled the show. I was actually super excited to perform, and I really wanted to see the tulips. Traffic was slow and crazy all the way up from Provo, so we didn’t find out about the cancellation until we’d finally turned off into Thanksgiving Pointe. I drove down to the gardens and we sneaked some peeks of a few tulips … from my car. From what I saw it looks absolutely beautiful! We may reschedule for next week, so that would be fantastic. Our rehearsal last night was great, even though I had practically no energy to exert, and several times I wondered what it would be like to be a professional dancer. I feel justified in saying I’m a semi-professional dancer … Read more…

Everybody has a story

There are stories all around us. Every day, every person– stories surround us. We need to tell our stories. We need to tell the stories of our hours, our days, our lives. We need to tell the stories of our triumphs and failures. We need to tell the stories of our families. We need to tell the stories of our religion. We need to tell the stories that describe us. How do you tell these stories? I believe that’s why we have Art. Some stories are told through paint, others through music. Some are told over kitchen table; others are told as best-sellers. Some are told through dance, others are told through traditions. It is your story to tell. Tell it how your story needs to be told. I used to think my life was pretty rote and boring. And then I realized that stories surround us. Finding these stories Read more…

Words

We use lots of words everyday. Sometimes we use more words than usual. In the past 10 days or so, I have written my 18 page paper. Yes, my mental trick of saying it was 20 pages worked!! When I got to 18 pages I was ready to finish it, and it totally falls within the requirements for length. I also ran out of time. I ‘m sure I could have pulled another page or two out of it. BUT! Here’s the big news. That entire paper, from beginning header to ending works cited, is 5,903 words long. Yes. I wrote that. I will sleep SO WELL tonight. I’m done with words for tonight. I think that deserves a nice break. 🙂

I am happy today/this week……..

It is Easter week and I get to have yummy Easter dinner with Grandpa and Grandma Price tomorrow! I got to spend last weekend with Grandparents Price and watch conference. Hooray for Elder Holland’s amazing talk on the Atonement. I think he listed my name in the beginning when he said who his talk was for. Karly, on my tap company, not only drove me to the show tonight, she thought my eyelashes were fake! AKA, they look so long and luscious that she thought I had put false lashes on. Nope. 100% real. I bought food this week. Happy day for food you actually want to eat. My dance performance tonight went really well, even with a few foot-flubs. My hair curled remarkably well for the show, and it still looks good. I got to see several old friends at my friend Amy’s bridal shower. It was good to Read more…

Peering into the future

So there’s a common adage that history repeats itself. And, I’d have to say, I’m a believer. For example, my summer plans. There are most definitely some things that are new and exciting– Europe!!– but a few striking things seem like they will be the same. Namely, my roommate situation. It seems abundantly clear that I will be rocking out the bachelorette pad solo this summer. At least I won’t have a bunch of engaged girls squatting in with me. Not that it wasn’t nice living with them last year but… Apparently my roommate has begun to “help” me with the transition process. Well, in all fairness, she is helping herself with the transition. She has begun to distance herself, to remind herself of my faults so she can have extra motivation to be happy she’s leaving. I guess we all have our ways of dealing with things. To my Read more…
